The Kiwanis Club of Little Dixie was founded in 1960 as an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in the city of Columbia, Missouri.

It was the first of several clubs which were founded by members of the Columbia Kiwanis Club which was the first Kiwanis Club chartered in the City of Columbia, founded in 1922.

Its members represent a cross section of community leaders from retired professors, to young professionals and they strive to serve the community in a variety of ways.

Kiwanis members pride themselves on getting involved in the community and our club is no exception. One of our primary service outlets is the community at thomas Hart Benton Elementary School where many members are actively engaged in helping children in an educational environment. There is an active K-Kids Club at the school and in 2009 we are helping to initiate a "Terrrific Kids" program.
